“Oh, you hate your job? Why didn’t you say so. There’s a support group for that. It’s called everybody, and they meet at the bar.” – Drew Carey

No matter where I am or who I talk to, I can always find someone who absolutely hates their job. I’ve heard everything from hating the boss, not liking co-workers, the work schedule or not feeling valued among many others.  I myself have felt these things before but my biggest issue always seemed to be boredom or lack of motivation.

Although some of us really do work for crappy bosses and have horrible co-workers, I’ve found that a paradigm shift and some changes in my own attitude and communication to myself can make a world of difference.

I have to admit, I hadn’t always been able to change my attitude or even recognize that my attitude about my job and about life in general greatly affected the way I felt. I hated coming to work and loved to complain about it. But ultimately I wasn’t doing anything to make it better.

One of the things I got into (and still am very much into), is listening to motivational speakers. One of these speakers is Tony Robbins and I will say up front, that I really didn’t ever care for him that much. But one day a lecture of his popped up on YouTube and I decided to listen.

One thing he said stood out to me and I think about it now on almost a daily basis.

He said “The quality of your life starts with the quality of your communication to yourself.”

We all communicate things to ourselves every day – some of us wake up and tell ourselves that we are going to take on the day, achieve our goals and be the best we can be. Others wake up on Monday and wish it were Friday.

Communication is everything and it starts with communication within ourselves.

Instead of focusing in on something our boss or co-worker said that we took offense to, think about it from their point of view. Perhaps they’re having a bad day or are stressed about something in their life. Looking at things from a different paradigm can be a game changer.

If you’ve tried to change your attitude or are reading this thinking I can’t possibly know what it’s like, then make a change.

I’m going to leave you with one more quote (because I love quotes)! And that is “There’s always a way – IF you’re committed.”

P.S. ImageBloom is hiring for several new positions and we promise, we’ll help you stay motivated!
