Businesses large and small are now advertising on Instagram, which has over 300 million active monthly users and growing.

With such a visual platform, businesses are able to showcase their brand, products and services with much success.

Here are a few ways Instagram can benefit your business:

1)      Increased engagement. A study from Forrester found that Instagram generated 58 times more engagement than Facebook and 120 times more than Twitter. The average user also spends about 21 minutes a day on the app.

Often times branded posts are overlooked on sites like Twitter where the newsfeed of each user is updated quickly with little time to see each post. On Instagram however, visually appealing content receives a huge level engagement. Nike, Adidas, Starbucks and other big brands are already catching on.

2). Gaining a competitive advantage. Currently only about 2% of businesses are on Instagram so the competition and advertising cost is significantly lower than on Facebook and Twitter. Good news for small businesses with low advertising budgets.

3). Increase in traffic. Although Instagram does not allow clickable links on each post, building your brand and increasing awareness of your product or service through repetition can mean a huge bump in website traffic as users Google your brand.
