Successful Marketing Doesn’t Happen Overnight

By: Brandy Haslam, MBA – Marketing is like building a long-term relationship. It doesn’t happen overnight and takes time, nurturing and lots of attention.

If you’re marketing to your prospective clients only one single time and then calling it quits, you’re not building relationships or thinking about the long-term.

You have to get to know your audience and they have to get to know you, and that doesn’t happen overnight.

The key? Repetition.

As a consumer, think of how many times you need to see a product or service before you decide to buy it. Research shows that it takes at least seven times, often more, for a consumer to even consider making a purchase.

Marketing to your audience just once or twice won’t yield the results you need to be successful long-term.

Most businesses, especially ones that are fairly new, should start by planning marketing campaigns to run for at least six to twelve months. This means sending your message to the same audience several times over the selected period of time.

This can be done through remarketing with Google adwords, Facebook targeting, email campaigns or through traditional methods if appropriate.

Marketing for the long haul doesn’t come easy or cheap. Time, commitment and a dedicated marketing budget are all necessary to make your marketing campaign successful.

So ditch your one-day, one-week campaigns and start building long-term successful relationships and see the difference it can make for you.
